About Us

Genesis Center for Better Living is a non-profit health education center for people of all faith backgrounds and is a community service of the Health Ministries Department of the Seventh-day Adventist Church of Cape Coral located at 1813 El Dorado Parkway West in Cape Coral, FL. The church believes that health and wellness are a positive support for spiritual well-being. By teaching good health according to Biblical principles,  we believe we are extending the healing ministry of Jesus.  Most local programs are provided at little or no charge, being funded by donations from previous participants whose lives were positively impacted for the good.

Dr. Marsha Gonzalez  is our volunteer Director. She is dedicated to supporting whole-person wellness through natural modalities, herbal formulas, nutrition, and faith-led guidance rooted in biblical principles. With a background in Chinese Medicine, Western biomedical sciences, and nutrition, she combines the wisdom of traditional healing practices with modern health perspectives to support a comprehensive approach to wellness.

Dr. Marsha believes nutrition is one of the foundational pillars of health and that food is one of the body’s first forms of medicine. Through personalized nutrition guidance, she helps individuals understand the connection between nourishing foods and their impact on the body’s overall function, mental and emotional well-being, and spiritual vitality. Her approach recognizes that the body is designed to thrive when supported with proper nourishment, balanced lifestyle practices, and intentional care.

Her integrative training allows her to view health through a holistic lens, considering the unique connection between nutrition, lifestyle, emotional wellness, and the body’s natural ability to maintain balance.

Dr. Marsha is passionate about empowering individuals to make informed choices that support their health by combining evidence-informed natural wellness practices with timeless biblical principles. Through seminars, workshops, and community education, she inspires others to understand the connection between physical wellness, nutrition as medicine, emotional health, and spiritual growth.

Dr. Marsha believes true wellness extends beyond addressing symptoms and involves caring for the whole person's body, mind, and spirit. Through compassionate education, guidance, and prayer, she is committed to helping individuals deepen their understanding of God’s design for health and pursue a lifestyle of greater balance, vitality, and spiritual wellness.

Wholeness and health have been an emphasis of the Seventh-day Adventist Church* since the 1860s when the denomination was in its early stages of development. The Bible reminds us that the body is the temple of the Holy Spirit and we have been entrusted with the privilege of maintaining and improving our spiritual, mental, social and physical health. The health ministries of the church promote good health and the prevention of ill health to help achieve this goal of wholeness.

The health ministries of the Adventist Church include a healthcare delivery system of church-operated clinics and hospitals throughout the world, ranging from top-quality medical universities and schools of learning all the way along the spectrum to "bare-essentials" clinics serving the developing world. Through all of these avenues, the goal of Health Ministries is to make people whole in an imperfect and disease-ravaged world.
