Each class is a different topic with food samples (consider it supper at 6:00 pm) plus recipe demonstrations and educational support to reinforce heart-healthy plant-strong guidelines to help energize your life as you lose weight, lower BP, and improve heart health, Type 2 diabetes, digestive problems and cholesterol (as taught by CHIP -Complete Health Improvement Program).

CHIP Health Intervention Series

Congratulations to our  Winter Class of 2018!

Need to dramatically alter the direction of your health? Are you unhappy because your doctor added more medicines for heart, BP, or diabetes?  Tired of being tired, over weight and with no energy? Take control of your health and change your life with internationally acclaimed CHIP - Complete Health Improvement Program.  Equivalent in effectiveness to a live-in lifestyle intervention program, our local CHIP will meet  at Genesis Center for Better Living twice a week for 6 weeks, and then once weekly for 6 weeks .  After graduation ClubCHIP follows with twice monthly alumnae support meetings.

This is a fee-based licensed program presented by CHIP-certified facilitators.  Fee includes all participant books and supplies, blood draws at the beginning and end of the program, full licensed program participation, 18 light meals, and information to share with your physician.

2015 Community Spotlight Events:

 

 

August 13, 2015, Thursday 7:00 pm Spotlight on Human Trafficking

Wings of Shelter International will make a presentation to raise awareness about the warning signs and effects of domestic human trafficking. The first hour will be the heart of the presentation, followed by a break and Q & A.   Florida is one of the worst locations in the US for this horrendous crime affecting 100,000 to 300,000 American children.(See more at: www.wingsofshelter.com)

This presentation by Hilary Gunder, Safe House Director, is free and open to the public and hosted as a community service by Genesis Center for Better Living, 1813 El Dorado Parkway West, Cape Coral (across from Cape Harbour subdivision).

 

Oct 29, 2015, Thursday, 6:30 – 7:30 pm Spotlight on Lifeline Family Center

 

Come to hear executive director, Kathy Miller, speak about the mission and programs of the Lifeline Family Center of Cape Coral. (See more at www.liefelinefamilycenter.org) Lifeline Family Center  provides a local,  positive alternative to abortion and gives support to  both mother and baby including housing for the first two years, life skills training, and counseling.  Lifeline also offers a 24/7 Hope Hotline, adoption assistance, and a special support group called Healing Hearts for those who have had an abortion or miscarriage.  Plus,  get a sneak peak at one of their newer youth intervention curriculums called R.U.C. :   Relationships Under Construction. This presentstion is FREE and open to the public at Genesis Center for Better Living, 1813 Eldorado Parkway West, Cape Coral (across from Cape Harbour subdivision).

 

 

November 16, 2015, Monday, 6:30 – 7:30 pm Spotlight on Habitat for Humanity

Becky Lucas, Vice President for Community Outreach, will give an overview of the local work of Habitat—its history in the area, their services, the people and the process involved. Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing ministry serving families whose income is between 30% and 80% of the area median income. (See more at www.habitat4humanity.org).  Habitat houses are sold to partner families with zero interest mortgages, making homeownership affordable. Their Mission is " Seeking to put God's love into action, Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities and hope." Since 1979, Habitat for Humanity of Lee and Hendry Counties has served 1,300 families, housing more than 3,000 individuals. There are more than 1,500 Habitat affiliates in the United States and 550 international affiliates. Lee and Hendry Counties’ affiliate is one of the largest in the nation.
